Allergen-specific immunotherapy

Previously termed desensitization, this therapy is the closest thing to a "cure" in allergy, particularly for environmental or inhalant allergies causing allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, asthma and insect venom bites (eg honey bee, wasp) allergies.

Allergy diagnostic tests

Allergy tests are done via skin prick test (SPT) and/or blood specific IgE. No preparation is required for the blood test whilst a SPT requires antihistamines to be stopped 1 week prior to the SPT.
