Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) It is plasma concentrated with platelets while all the blood cells removed by centrifugation; is also called Autologous Conditioned Plasma. In PRP Therapy, platelet-rich plasma is injected into the joint. This therapy is used in the treatment of tendinosis, osteoarthritis, and fasciitis. Formerly, anti-inflammatories, steroidinjections, and hyaluronic acid injections were used for the treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA), but after the arrival of PRP, it is considered as the most effective and safest method to cure KOA. PRP contains a concentration of mesenchymal stem cells, cytokines, platelets, growth factors, and other healing elements. All these growth-promoting factors can help in rebuilding cartilage, healing torn menisci, and ligaments as well as reduce inflammation. This therapy will result in pain reduction, improved mobility, and diminished joint stiffness. The results are efficacious during follow up as well.
