Biography

I trained in the UK, both for my undergraduate and post graduate degrees. My paediatric surgical training was in London and I was a consultant Paediatric Surgeon at St Georges Hospital for a few years before taking up a Post of Professor in Paediatric Surgery at University Malaya. I help set up the Minimally Invasive Service at Gold Coast University Hospital as a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon. Currently I am based in a few private centres in Kuala Lumpur. I am active in training Minimally invasive or keyhole surgery to established Paediatric Surgeons in the public hospitals, around Malaysia. I think every child in Malaysia should have access to MIS to avoid suffering due to pain and scarring from open surgeries.

Undescended testicles

1 in 100 boys has this problem and should be treated at 6 months to improve testicular function. These are new guidelines world wide

tongue tie

A common problem which is easily and promptly treated for babies with breast feeding issues

hypospadias

Abnormalities with the penis is becoming more common. Repair of hypospadias is very intricate. As a paediatric surgeon specifically trained to deal with little children and with good outcomes of both the function and cosmetic appearance is what I can provide.

Inguinal hernias and hydrocoeles

these are common conditions in boys and in some girls. Keyhole surgery gives fantastic outcomes and will identify if there is a developing hernia on the other side, present in up to 15% of kids with one sided hernia.

Keyhole surgery in children

With keyhole or minimally invasive surgery, children recover much faster and experience less pain compared to open surgery. There are many procedures where children can benefit from this including operations in the chest and in the abdomen.
