Biography
Dr Poongkodi Nagappan specialises in diagnosis, as well as medical and surgical treatment of patients with urinary problems. Surgical Training: Dr Poongkodi Nagappan graduated from University of Malaya in 1999 and completed her postgraduate degree in General Surgery at the National University of Malaysia (UKM). She took up sub-specialty training in Urology in 2009, working in three different hospitals across the country under consultants specialising in urologic oncology and minimally invasive surgery, urolithiasis and endourology, paediatric urology and functional urology. She completed her urology training in Malaysia in 2012 obtaining both the Malaysian Board of Urology certification and FRCS (Urol) (Glasg), before leaving for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in the United Kingdom, to develop her interest in Paediatric Urology. Since returning to Malaysia in 2015, Dr Poongkodi Nagappan has been gazetted as a urologist with the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the National Specialist Registry (NSR), making her one of the two NSR-certified women urologists in the country.
